Steve Acho is a Detroit-based singer-songwriter-pianist. He honed his stage skills performing standup comedy starting at the age of eight, and continued through high school. He taught himself to play piano, after being inspired by a Billy Joel concert his parents took him to. A self-taught singer and piano player, he began performing in coffee houses, restaurants, bars, and private events in the Detroit area starting in 1993. In 2002, he was flown to Washington D.C. to perform an original song entitled “United We Stand” at an event near the White House which raised funds for victims of the families of the 9/11 attacks. Since then he has entertained audiences as far west as Las Vegas and California and as far east as Japan. He has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for numerous charities. His music has been featured on local and national radio and TV. He is a favorite on local morning shows, including Mojo in the Morning (Channel 955) and Jim Harper in the Morning (105.1fm). Steve has been featured performing the national anthem several times before Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings games. He has shared the stage with Eddie Money, Lee Greenwood, Roberta Flack, Randy Travis, The Scintas and Karen Newman. In October 2009, Steve signed a contract with the Fox TV hit show “So You Think You Can Dance” giving them rights to use his cover version of Hinder’s “Lips of an angel”. The pop-rock-piano-man continues to sell thousands of downloads of his heartfelt originals, and his soulful versions of popular cover songs on iTunes and similar companies. His global fan base continues to grow as he performs all over the world at public and private events.
